Ottawa Army Officers Mess Wedding | Cathy + Michael

Updated: Jun 2, 2020

Cathy and Michael met with me only a few months before their wedding and were the first couple I told I would fight if they didn't let me pay for their drinks.... I lost and Michael picked up the tab. Hey, at least I tried! haha!

Their wedding day was pretty relaxed. I mean, these two have been together on and off for 30 years! They have been waiting for what feels like lifetimes to finally tie the knot and they did it so very well. With macarons instead of a cake, candy bar and dancing all night long, they definitely knew how to host a sweet party.

The day started with Cathy getting her hair done at a salon and then a family friend meeting at the location early to help with her makeup. When I showed up, she was running around helping other finish up the last minute decor set up. I snuck upstairs to find her dress and accessories and started taking the little detail photos. She finally came up to start her makeup and get ready. She had her good friend come help with her dress - there were so many buttons and she was with her when she got the dress so she got all the pro training from the amazing ladies at Sinder's. When she was all ready, I took a few photos of her in her gown while her nephew waited outside. When we opened the door for him to see her, he started to cry! AND THEN EVERYONE DID cause GUYS! It was the sweetest thing! All day this little dude was by her side telling her how beautiful she looked. He definitely knew how to pull on those heart strings all day long! I honestly thought it couldn't get any cute than this.... then it did!

After the tears were swept away, Cathy and Michael opted for a quick first look before the ceremony. This has to be by far my favourite first look with his reaction. Michael is so expressive with his personality that it was hilarious seeing him loose his mind over the fact Cathy was wearing Doc's! We hung out for a few minutes (mostly so Cathy could finish her wine - in true fashion) then headed downstairs so they could FINALLY get married after 30 years!

Cathy and Michael, thank you so much for having me apart of your dream wedding! It was such a fun day and you both looked stunning! I will still never forget that Cathy wore Dr Martens as her wedding shoes. Can you say #weddinggoals?!
