Too Hot for Social - Vol. 3 | Nudescape Art | Ottawa Boudoir Photography

Boudoir Photographer

Content warning: nipples and naked bodies.

If the naked body offends you, please refrain from continuing to see these images and just close your browser now. ;)

I recently took a course on Nudescape boudoir photography which are close up images of the human body using shadows and highlights. One of my favourite models, Stephanie, was going to be in town and it just so happened I was looking for a model to help me out with this. Since I had never done it before, I wanted someone who was comfortable being nude and who I had worked with in the past. I'm so excited to be able to add these to my portfolio and be able to confidently do them as a set with clients now!

So how did I take these? This is for all you nerdy photog kids. ;)

While I was watching the course, I was starting to get a little discouraged because the photographer teaching it was showing how to use strobe lights (which I don't have), modifiers (like soft boxes and grids - also a nope) but its a good thing she is one of my favourites because she also tells us how to DIY it! SCORE!

So, I ran out to IKEA, bought some blackout curtains and a dark grey throw blanket (closest thing to black I could find and I'll be able to use it again - WIN!). Now, I do also have a black out blind already in my studio because it gets hot AF in there with the sun beaming through the windows in the summer, so I do have a little advantage there with being able to do horizontal shots too. I put the curtains up and through the throw blanket over my room divider (because #lazystatus and I didn't want to put up my command hooks).

Needless to say, these are all taken with Natural Lighting and I'm so proud of myself for accomplishing these with barely any equipment. So for all those photographers who are a minimalist like me, everything CAN be done if you just put your mind to it!

So if you're not going to be offended seeing these, check out the body art we created in the studio!

Looking to have your own boudoir session? Hit me up! I'd love to have you owning yourself, feeling empowered and like the baddest of babes in all the land!
